Anyone know if this is spec legal? I know the rears are ok but has anyone done this?

#5

Unsure about that. Anyone able to elaborate?

Here is picture of a completed unit we just finshed as well:

And just for fun (we also carry rear reinforcements):

Read the class rules:

9.3.8.11. Additional reinforcement of front sub-frame, motor mount areas, control arm pick-ups,
idler arm and steering box mounts is permitted.

Be nicer pls. Everyone is a newby once. Encourage them to find the light. Don’t whack them with a stick until they get there.

What stick Scott? I provided the info requested, told him where to find it (okay I could have included a link, but it’s on the left side of the page clearly visible) and didn’t make any snide comments like “Don’t be hlepless, check realoem”. A comment I received as a noob from a moderator who shall remain nameless. The pic above the user’s name shows a prepared car. This shouldn’t be new advice.

No big deal, I should have looked at the rules, but my main question still exists, has anyone done this?
Thanks guys.

Ouch. Dang, I said that? My moral high ground seems to be evaporating.

#12

Actually it would be interesting to conduct a survey. It may be more common than you think. I’ve done it as have at least a couple of others in MW/GL.

I’ve got the reinforcements on my car too, but I have the AKG parts which look exactly the same as these. AKG had them on sale and Garagistic wasn’t around yet. There is a time in the build or just when replacing worn parts on your car that removing the front subframe is just a couple extra steps. The first 6 years of my cars track life I didn’t run them and my subframe didn’t suffer, but I’ve seen pics on the forums of stock M42 cars cracking the subframe at the motor mount. So it’s really just cheap insurance, especially if you are planning on running solid motor mounts.

Order them…

#14

Well we have them in stock. We also offer the tig weld service or a subframe “trade in”. Give us your original undamaged sub frame and get a reinforced sub frame (powder coat option is available too). We are located in huntington beach CA.

#15

I have the reinforcements on my front subframe as well. I don’t remember what make they are though.

#16

Just got a bunch more in stock and ready to ship!

#17
