Congrats to Sean Curren and Johnny Allan

Congratulations Sean and Johnny on a fantastic weekend of racing at Thunderbolt. Masterful speed and near-perfect setup strategy netted them each a win under tough circumstances. Two poles for Johnny and I think a track record for Sean. We had six SE30s on Sat and five on Sunday. Hopefully the NE region will be even more active in 2010, albeit without Stevie Wonder guest-driving the pace car.

I heard Johnny put on a heck of a show for the folks watching the front straight! Would have been nice to see it, but sometimes firechickens just will not let you by…and who would have thought they are faster on the straights.

Thanks guys, was a fun weekend and I’m psyched that we have decent numbers now. My only regret is that we didn’t group all of us together for Saturday’s start and that the pace car driver didn’t have a clue. After the start debacle, Jon was too far away for me to ever gain enough ground and our times were pretty even the whole time, he did a 1:38.139 and the next lap I did a 1:38.130. When the full course caution came out for a turn 1 crash, I thought I might be able make something happen, but due to a slow cleanup, the race finished under yellow. For Sunday, we all started together behind the main group with the spec miatas and spec racers behind us. No pace car, we decided to pace ourselves and I have to say, we did a better job. The track was wet and Jon had the inside which isn’t the best place to be for a wet turn 1 and I was able to get around him. At this point Matt, Jon and I were pretty even, but like Matt said, it all came down to setup. Half credit goes to being able to look at radar on phones and know more rain was coming and the other half to not want lie down in puddles to hook my rear bar back up, leaving me with a full wet setup which ended up being the ticket. I’ll put up the video tomorrow.

Hoping some photos or video turn up of Jonny’s front straight slide to knight rider.

Here are a couple (watermarked) pics of Sunday’s start http://www.tracktimephotos.com/largeView.php?imgName=2009/20091101_NJM_NAR_4589 http://www.tracktimephotos.com/largeView.php?imgName=2009/20091101_NJM_NAR_4590
