Looking for wheels

#1

Where is the best place to get wheels and the best bang for the buck.

I saw the earlier thread posted below as a possibility but didn’t know if there was anything else out there. Thanks,

The cheapest, strongest, lightest wheels I believe are the Team Dynamics. BimmerWorld usually has a good price on them.

You can find others that are cheaper and heavier. So I guess it depends on what your priorities are.

I’ve never bent a TD and that was hitting potholes that have cracked windshields on track.

YMMV

I’ve had a TD pro race 2 wheel crack all the way across one of the 5 spokes. Maybe I’m a better wheel abuser than Jim?

There are a coupla other options all in the same price range: D-Force LTW5 (bimmwerworld has these), Tirerack’s TR Motorsport C1. The Koenigs are probably the cheapest, but they give up a pound or two to the others.

When I researched wheels last year I gathered some “data” from the internet and put it into this table: http://adam.lazur.org/spece30/wheels.html

Ireland Engineering has some E30 specific wheels that would work also. Jeff is easy to deal with and a good man.

Also Check with 949Racing.com the makers of 6UL wheels. Emilio is a great guy and has some great wheels that are totally strong and very light considering how incredibly strong they are.

the 6UL wheels don’t appear to be available in 15x7 anymore. (just from looking at their website)

Check out the D-force wheels from http://philstireservice.com/
Nice wheel for the price.

i have six of the d-force wheels and while i haven’t put many miles on them they seem pretty decent, certainly for the price ($99 from bimmerworld). the only drawback is the lug/bolt holes are small and deep, my 19mm impact socket just barely fits. still, i most likely will order six more during the off season.

Thanks for all the information. There is a lot more to sort through than I thought.

One would presume that all race wheels are strong and I am not hearing any fatal strength issues on any individual design or manufacturer. So in comparing price and weight it appears that Team Dynamics or D-force from Bimmerworld would be the way to go.

Check these out, a lot of NorCal SpecE30 Racers are using them without any problems! Great retro look as well.

Fixed it for you, Jim.

I got the Kosei K1s from Tire Rack. They come with the spacers required.

I still really like them. I only have a couple track weekends on them so far, but I have had no issues.
