Penetrating oil

#1

The other week I read about some outfit that attempted to test various penetrating oils by rusting solid a bunch of bolts equally. Then they tested all the oils. The list below shows the average amount of torque required.

WD-40 …238 pounds
PB Blaster …214 pounds
Liquid Wrench …127 pounds
Kano Kroil …106 pounds
ATF-Acetone mix…53 pounds

Based on this I mixed up some 50-50 ATF & Acetone. You have to shake it up before using. Seems to work fine.

Shaken, not stirred.

Which one would be the best one to use in separating Moli**r from his cash?

Not surprised WD is the worst, but I’m surprised about PB Blaster. Where is the best place to get the acetone?

I use Loctite Super Pentrating Oil, has never let me down so far, don’t know what it would cost as I got my aerosol can from a race team clear out for $5

Any info on toxicity of this mix?

I too am surprised at the PB Blaster results. I thought it would’ve scored higher.
BTW, you can get Acetone @ Wally World too.

I’m surprised about PB Blaster too. Seems to do its job and I usually walk back into the house covered in it.

I wonder where Knock’er Loose falls?
